What to Expect After Implant Surgery
Once the dental implant surgery has been finished, pain and swelling can be expected in the facial area. This is not unusual as the regeneration concerns multiple tissues in the mouth. At Medicare Dental Clinic, we are prepared for this situation and provide painkillers after the procedure to help you find a solution to the pain in the first few days.
You will also receive ice jelly and prescribed antibiotics to help manage discomfort and promote faster healing after the surgery. We use resolvable stitches at our dental clinic, therefore there is no need for an appointment to remove them.

Recovery Timeline
Osseointegration is the healing and integration of the dental implant, this process is important to get the necessary stability of the implant in the jawbone.
Lower Jaw
Upper Jaw
Temporary Restoration
Once the tooth implantation has been finished, you do not stay without teeth for the next 3-6 months. You will receive a temporary denture for the healing period. This is not as stable, functional and cannot bear as much pressure as the permanent tooth replacement.
By the time the integration of the implant has been completed, and the permanent crown, bridge or denture has been fixed, the new artificial teeth are taking the same role as your natural teeth.

Importance of Regular Check-ups
After a dental implant surgery, the annual dental check-up is even more important than with other dental treatments. Dental implantation, as a minor surgical operation, is an important intervention in the body.
